Troy Sebastian here. Just letting my readers know that I went for a ride the other day. It was quite chilly. I went with Ana Lucia and our masters.. and the car. Ana Lucia and I were not the ones being ridden for a while. Ana Lucia was being hgh maintenance and "needed" new shoes and wouldn't ride for very long until she got them. So, we never went anywhere. Well, I convinced her to go around the block with me just because us two were so out of shape that anything would help.
So we turned right, turned right, turned right.. and we were done. It was definitely a chilly day.

Troy Sebastian here.. and getting fat. =(

Troy Sebastian here. I think my master forgot about me. =( I haven't seen her in a few days.. and I haven't seen Ana Lucia either. I am getting a little mad at them both right now. Ugh.

Troy Sebastian here. I took a ride with my master and 3 others on Saturday. We rode along Park Avenue again for the last weekend of Summer Street in NYC. We rode around Central Park again, and we rode along the West Side Highway again. I spoke too soon last time.. I did not ride further than last time. But Elaine did get another wafel! It was another nice day for a ride, and we didn't push ourselves too much this ride - except for one neverending hill at Central Park.

Ana Lucia was so happy to be out.. she hasn't been on a ride in a long time. She did good, though.
She did good. =)

Troy Sebastian here. I went for a very long ride on Saturday with my master's dad and the Raleigh. We all heard that NYC was closing about 7 miles to cars so that people could ride their bikes or run through the streets or whatever they chose to do. So of course, we took this opportunity to go for a nice, long ride without any threat of cars and those crazy drivers!

The ride was pretty quick and we reached Central Park without too much effort. We rode from the Financial District up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and up to Harlem. Then we went around and as we were heading downtown, there was a long hill that was taking too much out of the riders. So we decided to stop and have a rest.. drink some water, etc. I even hydrated myself with the water fountain!

As we finished conquering the uphills and downhills, we rode passed a small body of water. It was very pleasing to the eye, so I added to the pleasantry of the scene.

We got off at 59th Street and made a quick stop at the Columbus Circle. There were so many people and cars! We were on the streets that weren't closed off to the cars, so we were on high alert as we rode through traffic.

We headed back to the West Side Highway.. again. This seems to be a tradition for me - that every time I ride in NY, I have to be on the West Side Highway. And another tradition is that I keep going higher than the last time!

Elaine thought it would be cool if I "parked' myself under this sign for a picture:

Nearing 125th Street, we took a quick break. We were contemplating on how far we could keep riding.. and we kept in mind that we had to ride back, still. While we were talking it over, Elaine took a picture of my shadow. I wish she had told me she was going to take the picture.. I would've shown my better side.

So we pushed ourselves and went to the George Washington Bridge! And we saw a Little Red Lighthouse, which is a historical landmark.

As we headed back to downtown, Elaine wanted to take a picture with me and the George Washington Bridge. She put me behind her because she didn't want me to take all the attention in the picture. Better luck next time!

Here's her father and the Raleigh riding along West Side Highway:

And like last time, Elaine wanted a wafel & dinges. This might be a tradition for her..?

As we were passing near the Intrepid area, I saw something that did NOT belong in the bike lane:

So our entire ride all throughout New York City today was 43.16 miles. I'm pretty proud of us.. I could've gone further. A major factor in our great progress was that the weather was just marvelous. It was never too hot and it wasn't humid. It was great riding weather and the Hudson River gave us a great breeze when the sun beamed on us.

Troy Sebastian here. As promised, here is my post about Sunday's ride in New York.. but this time it's not in Manhattan, it's in Brooklyn. We started off from Bay Ridge and into Owl Head Park. That park basically led us to a path that went straight through Brooklyn and into Coney Island.

We took a two minute break for pictures. Below is Rain - Ana Lucia's master, and me.. and that's the Verrazano Bridge in the background. That's the bridge we took to get into the city, but we were driven in.. I have yet to ride on a bridge! I'm waiting for my big opportunity to do so!

My master has been getting too comfortable with riding a bike, so she keeps trying to multi-task. Here you see her taking pictures while she's riding her bike.. it's so dangerous! And notice how her hair got into the picture! But along with her hair, she managed to catch Rain and Ana Lucia in the picture too.. you can even still see the Verrazano Bridge in the back too.

At least she stopped to take this picture:

This is Elaine's father with the Raleigh, and Rain and Ana Lucia in the background..
and the bridge is still there, too!

We rode all the way to Coney Island area and then stopped for a quick break at Spumoni Gardens. They had their square pizza slices while us three bikes just relaxed in the shade. Afterwards, Elaine absentmindedly rode with a can of OPENED soda in her hand and spilled some Pepsi on me. I was not happy with her. So when she wasn't paying attention, I purposely rode over some bumps so she could spill some on herself. Take THAT!!

I think she got the hint because two seconds later, she threw away the can of soda when it wasn't even finished. =) So after Spumoni Gardens, we backtracked our way to Bay Ridge area and rested there until it was time to go home. The trails we took to and from Spumoni Gardens was not smoothe at all.. there were so many cracks on the trails and way too many people as we approached Coney Island. It was a beautiful view, but it was almost dangerous because of how many people were there! And no one was paying attention to the warnings of my bell!

Before I end this post, I wanted to put up this picture that was taken on our way back to Bay Ridge. If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you will notice that Rain was dangerously riding Ana Lucia with his feet off the pedals! I don't know why these riders are so daring.. It's a little irresponsible if you ask me. If either of us get hurt, we'll know who to blame.

Troy Sebastian here. Due to high demand, I return to blogging! I apologize for not posting in a while, but I've been pretty busy keeping Ana Lucia company. She's been staying over for a few days. I can't do everything at once.. I only have two wheels, readers!!!

I haven't really gone out much since the last post up until I went to New York the past Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Ana Lucia and I were riding along the West Side Highway.. this seems to be an often occurance, but I don't mind because the scenery is beautiful. Plus it's just so much more safe riding here than on the streets of New York City!

Here's a picture of me while resting at a park overlooking the Hudson River..
notice the awesome blimp flying by!

I thought my picture was nice, but then I see this:

And Ana Lucia is just ....beautiful! Look at how the sun just shines off her reflectors. The sunset just accents her beauty into words I cannot even begin to describe. =)

The next two pictures make me feel like screaming, "look, Ma.. no hands!!" But of course to me, it's more like, "look, master.. no kickstand!!"

Ana Lucia and I rested while our masters ate from this cart-looking thing.. Not sure what they were eating because they didn't share with us, I just know that it had this huge thing hanging on the side of the side. Maybe it was a wafel with dinges. =)

I will post about Sunday's trip to New York in my next post.

Troy Sebastian here. We did go for a ride yesterday with Ana Lucia and her master.. it was a short ride though. It was extremely humid. Towards the end of the ride, I'm almost positive that I was even sweating! Anyway, I'm glad I was finally taken out. I'd like to go on a longer ride next time though..

EDIT: I was just informed that it was not, in fact, me who was sweating.. but we rode through a sprinkler, and that's why I got wet towards the end of the ride. Oops.

Thursday, August 5, 2010

Troy Sebastian here. I've been pretty dormant lately, but my master made a promise to ride me today. I hope we go somewhere fun. I miss being in the outdoors.

Troy Sebastian here. I've been resting for a while now.. and today I fell on Ash. Oops. Sorry, Ash.

Troy Sebastian here. Pictured below is from a ride that Ana Lucia did from Piscataway to Whitehouse Station.. we're resting in Somerville here.
As you can notice, Ana Lucia is leaning on me.. she's pretty dependent of me. I don't mind, though. She can lean on me whenever she wants and needs.

And why not? I think I deserve it! =)

Troy Sebastian here. I went for a long ride with Elaine and her father in Manhattan today. Not sure what my personal relationship is with the Raleigh yet, but I supposed I'll find out soon enough. He seems a little snobbish if you ask me.. he thinks he's better than me because he believes he's worth more. Whatevs!

Here we are riding to the city together.. it's nice to be the rider sometimes.

We stopped by the Hester Street Fair, and then rode through South Street Seaport. That's where we took this awesome picture of me.. oh yeah, and the Brooklyn Bridge is there too.

The four of us took the ferry to Governors Island.. I've never been on a boat before. I got a little nauseous at first, but there were a lot of other bikes there that helped me calm down. After we arrived on the island, we went for a nice two laps around the place. It was very pleasant.. I was even able to take a picture with the Statue of Liberty.

These, too, were taken on the island.

Here's the Raleigh and his master after the island.

We rode all the way up to the Intrepid and more until everyone was too hot and tired to continue. This was a great ride!

Troy Sebastian here. I've gone for some quick rides, but pictures aren't always taken. I'm not sure why not though, I mean.. look at me? Anyway, I've gone out a few times with Elaine, my master.. here she is riding to play volleyball again.

She's aiiiight, I guess. She's a bit of a noob if you ask me. I mean, look at her - she's eating a muffin while going for the ride! I'm trying to get her in shape and she eats a banana walnut muffin?! Plus no multi-tasking when controlling me.. that's just wreckless!

Anyway, here are some of her friends riding on some of my friends.
Troy Sebastian here. I went for a ride on June 30th to the park while my master played volleyball. As they were resting.. some of the other players took me for a quick test ride. I sure impressed them! - it must've been my cool bell.

Introduction.

Troy Sebastian here.. I'm a conceited one, so this blog is all about me and my adventures. I am now a little over a month old, but I have traveled quite the distance. I went into labor on June 3, but my birthday is June 4. Seen below is my first picture taken (also pictured is my girlfriend, Ana Lucia.. and Rain's in the picture too - he's helping me learn how to roll properly before letting me stroll out on my own). I'm all stock with a new cage to match!

My first stroll ever was that same day for about over 10 miles, give or take. I was preparing for my first organized ride on the 19th. Pictured below, I went for another long stroll through Liberty State Park for some more practice. I'm not sure if you can notice, but I am no longer a baby.. I grew up and changed my saddle to a Selle Italia SLK Gel Flow Saddle. First I took a picture with Ana Lucia, and then I took a solo one to show the beautiful view of the city.

I participated in my first organized ride on June 19th called the Ride for the Mission. I went with Ana Lucia.. we first went for 25 miles, but then we pushed ourselves to do a hilly 7 miles shortly after. We survived. Here I am (with Ana Lucia again, of course) resting on a tree because Ana Lucia doesn't seem to believe in kickstands! Ana Lucia is lighter than me.. but check out her badunkadunk!

I've been on some short rides since then, but I feel like I can go for some long rides again.. 45, maybe even 60+ miles. Let's find out!

Maybe one day you'll find a picture of me soHoing in YOUR town. ;)
